Vice Chair
Board of Directors

Ms. Patricia Carrera, BBA, US Army Mom

Patricia earned a BBA in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin and worked in the private sector for over two decades in Finance and as the Owner - CFO of a San Antonio-based business serving the medical, institutional and research sectors. In addition, she has been an active volunteer with the community and various school boards. Committed to a lifetime of functional fitness and wellness, Patricia is also a Certified Personal Trainer.
Both children of World War II veterans, Patricia and her husband, Wes, are the parents of three adult children, fostering a service-above-self attitude within the family. Their two sons honor their grandfathers’ sacrifice through their own lives of service: the oldest son as an Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer and the younger son as a professional Firefighter and Paramedic. Their youngest, a daughter, graduated May 2020 with a BFA in Fine Studio Arts and is pursuing post graduate studies as a Child Therapist. The family also has an “emotionally adopted” daughter, a Chinese foreign exchange student, who holds a BBS in Food Sciences and is pursuing her PhD in Hospitality Administration.

Patricia brings a passion for the Traumatic Brain Injury community borne from her own life experiences. While juggling business ownership and parenting, Patricia and her husband served as legal guardians and caregivers for multiple family members with illnesses that caused severe physical and mental disabilities. Patricia has witnessed first-hand the life changing impact these diseases, as well as mental illness and PTSD, can inflict and she is committed to helping the community of individuals and their caregivers affected by neuro disease and injury.
